Gold Circle takes 'Redemption'
It'll produce, finance crime drama helmed by Aarniokoski

Gold Circle Films has acquired "Romeo's Redemption," Dave Lease's dark comedy spec, and will produce and finance the feature with casting already under way.

Douglas Aarniokoski (second unit director on "Spy Kids," "Resident Evil: Extinction") is attached to direct.

Paul Brooks, president-CEO of Gold Circle, is producing, with Gold Circle VP Guy Danella co-producing and overseeing the production. Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt will exec produce.

Lease ("Black Phantom") and Aarniokoski both pitched the project to Gold Circle.

"Romeo's Redemption" tells the story of the mob's No. 1 enforcer-turned-informant, who breaks free of witness protection when he finds out his former employers are going after the only person he ever loved -- his severely scorned ex-wife.
